Varsity Tennis Season 2021

The Friends Academy 2021 mens varsity tennis team is showing some great potential as the spring season kicks off. With the influx of new talented sophomores and freshmen, as well as returning juniors and seniors, this year’s tennis team has the greatest depth and talent throughout the roster that we’ve seen in years. From first singles all the way through to fourth doubles the team is stacked with players of all strengths and talents and with the season just beginning you can expect big things coming in the future.

As of 5/11, the team has already played three matches which they have swept and won every match 7-0 or 6-1. The team’s first win came against Cold Spring Harbor in a scrimmage ( where the team won 2 out of 3 of the singles matches and swept the doubles 4-0. Following that match the team traveled to Garden City, in their first official match, where they put on quite the performance sweeping them 7-0 and nearly winning every game within each match. After the match coach Owen Kassimir chimed in on the early season success: “We have some great potential…a great, well rounded team”. A couple days later the team then traveled back up to FA to play against a cross town rival North Shore. Once again in a dominant performance the team swept North Shore 7-0 improving their pre season record to 2-0. The team’s upcoming matches feature some tough teams including Manhassat and Great Neck South, however; there is great optimism and confidence amongst the team collectively.

As the season progresses, the team looks to become conference championship contenders as they continue to impress and beat their rivals and oppositions. We encourage the members of our community to come to our upcoming matches and follow our instagram for future scores and updates: @friendstennis. Until then, Go Quakers!
