Instagram Artists

Instagram+Artists

Before Instagram was released in 2010, the thought of creating art through a social media website would have been laughable to many and so would “influencers” making a career out of posting selfies, and yet both of these scenarios are our 2018 reality. Caroline Calloway is one of these Instagram artists who’s breaking boundaries by using Instagram for more than just superficial likes and comments. Calloway uses her platform of 816k followers to chronicle her studies at Cambridge and experiences exploring the world. Her brand of adventure-grams allowed her to sell her book, We Were Like, to Penguin Random House for half a million dollars in November of 2015. If citing artistic license as the reasons behind the end of the book deal is not proof enough for legitimacy as an artist, then I am not sure what is.
