I do too many crafts when I should be working on homework. Whether it be candles or origami, crafts are usually simple. Even when crafts don’t go as planned, at least you don’t waste a 20-dollar tube of oil paint. Here is a craft that will outshine any result achieved from following “5-Minute Crafts” youtube tutorials.
Here’s how to make one of my favorite crafts: candles in teacups:
First, go to a thrift store and buy yourself a teacup; any will do, but the cuter, the better.
Then, go to Marshalls or any store with inexpensive candles. You can even buy wax melts from your local Walmart to melt down.
Before you melt the wax, remove the wick from the candle by either cutting it out, or melting the candle and using a spoon.
Put the wick at the bottom of your teacup; if you have trouble with it standing, you may need to use a little of your melted wax to keep it in place.
Now onto melting the wax – microwave or boiling can do the trick. I use the wax I cut out of the candle and microwave it, but another method is to put the jar in a boiling pot of water until melted. If using this method, make sure to take it out with oven mitts because the wax will be very hot.
Then, make sure the wick stands up by using a straw. How, you might ask? Cut the straw to the length of the teacup and wrap the wick around the straw so it stands in the middle of the cup.
Finally, before you pour the wax, put the teacup on a plate or cutting board so you can transfer it to the refrigerator once the wax is poured in.
Pour the wax, transfer it to the refrigerator, and take it out after about an hour.
Now you’re done! Hope you love your candle!
